About This Skill

Create Fashionable Products That People Use Every Day! This programme trains students in the design and production of handbags, school bags, office bags, wallets, belts and other leather or synthetic leather products. Trainees learn material selection, pattern development, cutting techniques and finishing methods used in modern leather craft. Students engage in practical production processes such as measuring and drafting patterns, cutting leather and fabric components, stitching with industrial and manual machines, fixing zips and buckles, attaching linings and reinforcing handles and edges. Attention is given to neat finishing, durability and attractive product presentation. At the end of the training, participants will be capable of producing market-ready bags and leather accessories, estimating production costs and developing small-scale manufacturing or custom-order businesses. The programme combines creativity with practical entrepreneurial skills for sustainable income generation.
Mandatory Skills Qualification (MSQ): completing this skill alongside your ND/HND earns you a National Skills Qualification (NSQ) certificate, per NBTE requirements for all polytechnic graduates. Choose it as a vertical skill if it matches your core course of study, or horizontal if it's in a different field entirely.
