About This Skill

Add Value to Farm Produce and Build a Sustainable Food Business! This programme equips students with the practical skills required to process, preserve and package a wide range of dry food products for domestic and commercial markets. Trainees learn modern food processing techniques, quality control measures, food hygiene standards and the principles of safe food preservation to reduce post-harvest losses and increase product value. Students participate in hands-on practical sessions involving the cleaning, sorting, drying, milling, roasting, blending and packaging of products such as grains, cereals, spices, flours, dried vegetables, dried fruits, powdered foods and other shelf-stable food products. They also learn moisture control, product storage, labelling, quality assurance, equipment operation and compliance with food safety regulations. Upon completion, participants will be able to establish and manage small- or medium-scale dry food processing enterprises, produce high-quality packaged food products and apply effective marketing and business management strategies.
