This programme provides practical training in the installation, testing and maintenance of electrical systems used in residential, commercial and industrial buildings. Students learn electrical principles, wiring regulations and safe working practices. Hands-on activities include conduit installation, cable termination, socket and lighting installation, distribution board wiring, circuit testing, fault diagnosis, earthing systems and electrical maintenance. Trainees also gain experience in reading electrical drawings and using testing instruments safely. Graduates will be able to carry out electrical installations that meet recognised safety standards, troubleshoot faults efficiently and perform preventive maintenance. The programme prepares participants for employment in construction, facility maintenance or independent electrical contracting.
Mandatory Skills Qualification (MSQ): completing this skill alongside your ND/HND earns you a National Skills Qualification (NSQ) certificate, per NBTE requirements for all polytechnic graduates. Choose it as a vertical skill if it matches your core course of study, or horizontal if it's in a different field entirely.
