Harness the Power of the Sun! This programme provides practical training in the design, installation and maintenance of solar photovoltaic (PV) systems for homes, businesses and institutions. Trainees learn renewable energy principles, electrical safety and the components of modern solar power systems. Hands-on activities include solar panel installation, inverter configuration, battery bank setup, charge controller installation, system wiring, performance testing, fault diagnosis and preventive maintenance. Students also learn load assessment, system sizing and energy management techniques. Upon completion, participants will be capable of installing reliable solar energy systems, maintaining existing installations and troubleshooting common operational faults. The programme prepares graduates for employment in the renewable energy sector or self-employment as solar installation professionals.
Mandatory Skills Qualification (MSQ): completing this skill alongside your ND/HND earns you a National Skills Qualification (NSQ) certificate, per NBTE requirements for all polytechnic graduates. Choose it as a vertical skill if it matches your core course of study, or horizontal if it's in a different field entirely.
