Transform Molten Metal into Engineering Excellence! This programme introduces students to the processes involved in metal casting and foundry operations used in engineering and manufacturing industries. Trainees learn the properties of metals, moulding materials and safe foundry practices. Practical training covers pattern making, mould preparation, furnace operation, metal melting, pouring techniques, casting, fettling, finishing and quality inspection. Students also gain knowledge of heat treatment processes, defect identification and the proper use of foundry equipment. Upon completion, participants will possess the practical skills required to produce quality metal castings for engineering, automotive and industrial applications. The programme prepares graduates for careers in manufacturing industries, engineering workshops and metal fabrication enterprises.
Mandatory Skills Qualification (MSQ): completing this skill alongside your ND/HND earns you a National Skills Qualification (NSQ) certificate, per NBTE requirements for all polytechnic graduates. Choose it as a vertical skill if it matches your core course of study, or horizontal if it's in a different field entirely.
